Wendy Joy

Wendy qualified in 1991 from the Middlesex Hospital School of physiotherapy in central London. She has since regularly attended continuing professional development courses to develop and keep her current skills up to date.

Over the years she has worked in both NHS settings, private hospitals and sports injury clinics in Portsmouth, London, Southampton, Bournemouth and Poole.

She is a paediatric specialist and  has worked in the paediatric departments in both Portsmouth and Poole Hospitals with both younger children and adolescents.  Wendy is experienced in junior musculo-skeletal care, neurological rehab and developmental progression.  She also has extensive experience in hydrotherapy and runs a weekly hydrotherapy clinic in Poole.  She sees children with many conditions such as anterior knee pain, scoliosis, ankle or shoulder instability, hyper-mobility, problems caused by growth spurts such as growing pains, cerebral palsy, pigeon toes (in-toeing), global delay and co-ordination difficulties.

Wendy feels strongly that education is a large part of injury prevention and therefore offers FREE lectures to junior athletes at local sports clubs, advising on warm up, stretching, warm down and the effect of growth spurts on performance.

Wendy is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and is a state registered physiotherapist (SRP) with the Health Professions Council. She is also a member of the Association of Paediatric Chartered Physiotherapists.
