The Chiropractic team at Lilliput Health, with practices based in both Poole and Bournemouth, is made up of qualified Doctors of Chiropractic (DC) – all of whom have under taken a further course to qualify them to carry out a technique (similar to that of acupuncture) called Dry Needling.

What is Dry Needling?

Acupuncture derives from Traditional Chinese medicine where a thin metal needle is inserted through the skin into specific points along a meridian line (energy line).  Dry Needling is a similar technique using specialised, very thin, sterile metal needles which are placed into a tight band or trigger point within the muscle.

These trigger points are palpable and can directly result in a patient suffering from myofascial pain. The technique of dry needling helps to break the spasm/tightness and pain associated with this tender point within the muscle. Dry Needling is carried out by Western practitioners, like the Chiropractors here at Lilliput Health in Poole and Bournemouth.

Is Dry Needling Suitable for You?

Each patient attending a Chiropractic appointment at Lilliput Health is assessed as an individual and if dry needling is deemed to be an appropriate treatment modality for the patient and the condition they are suffering from, then their Chiropractor will discuss with the patient if they would like dry needling to be carried out.

Some patients may suffer with  medical conditions or take certain medications which means that dry needling is not a suitable technique to be carried out on those individuals. Other patients may have a phobia of needles and choose not to have this technique carried out.

Lilliput Health is a multidisciplinary private health care clinic with practices based in Poole and Bournemouth. We have a range of different therapies including physiotherapy, chiropractic, sports massage, chiropody and many more.
