Aesthetic Treatments

What is Aesthetic medicine?

Aesthetic medicine can be defined as the art of beauty. Aesthetics is commonly related to anti wrinkle injectables, treatments or procedures, which lead to a process of facial rejuvenation. However aesthetic treatments can also be used to treat certain medical conditions for example hyperhydrosis (excessive underarm sweating).

When using the definition of Aesthetics or anti wrinkle injectables most people will know the product Botulism toxin which is a prescription only medication. However there is more to this sphere of treatment which is now on offer at Lilliput Health.

Free consultations are offered prior to all treatments and reviews are offered following all treatments.

Facial rejuvenation includes:

1. Agera medical facial skin peels.

A medical skin peel is a process to soften and improve the appearance of your skin. It works by removing old, dead skin revealing the healthy layers beneath. Agera medical skin peels are recommenced for:

• Decreasing wrinkles

• Increasing skin tone and smoothness

• Removing age spots and patchy skin colour

• Decreasing pore size and oily skin

• Aiding in the control of Acne

• Improving uneven pigmentation

• Improving sun damaged skin

This new skin looks brighter and fresher with an overall new, softer glow. The treatments are tailored specifically to individual skin types and daily routines. A specific package of treatment is recommended and the use of Agera products encouraged to enhance the skin care regime.

2. Diamond microdermabrasion

Diamond microdermabrasion uses diamond tips to exfoliate and resurface the skin, reducing wrinkles, scaring, stretch marks and acne.

Suction levels can be adjusted depending on the area to be treated. Diamond microdermabrasion has the added benefit of stimulating collagen and elastin as well as increasing blood flow to the skin. This provides an instantly revived complexion and healthy glow, while collagen and elastin work to build stronger and more youthful skin.

Treatments can be used in conjunction with Agera medical facial skin peels.

3. Dermal Fillers

The main component of dermal fillers is Hyaluronic acid which can be found naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid can retain 1000 times it’s own weight thereby keeping skin smooth and plump. Dermal Fillers are injected with a fine needle, under local anaesthetic. The procedure takes around 30 minutes and the results can be seen almost immediately. The effects of Dermal Fillers can last up to a year, but this depends on the type used, skin type, age, lifestyle, and muscle activity.

Dermal fillers are used to treat:

• Nose to mouth lines

• Lines Between the Brows

• Lip Enhancement

Other treatments include mesotherapy (treatment to the back of the hands and chest), fine lines, cheek enhancement and brow lift.

Anti-wrinkle injectables

Wrinkle reducing treatment is a non surgical cosmetic procedure to smooth wrinkles around the face, especially frown lines, forehead and smile lines. Advanced techniques can be used for bunny lines and lower face and excessive underarm sweating.

The treatment used is a protein derivative of a chemical produced by the Botulinum bacteria which, when injected into muscle, causes it to become weakened or inactivated. By reducing the movement of muscles wrinkles are reduced. During the time that the muscles are temporarily deactivated, the patient can break the subconscious habit of overusing these muscles.

Treatments can last 3-4 months, depending on age and muscle tone.

Treatment of facial telangiectasia (red veins).

Telangiectasia is a medical term for red facial veins commonly referred to as dilated capillaries or broken veins. Treatment by short wave diathermy can result in either complete removal or significant improvement in their appearance. This will depend on their cause or the lifestyle of the patient. This may be due to hereditary factors or environmental factors including sun damage.

The treatment works by heating the blood in the capillary via an electrical current, which obliterates the vessel. The treatment takes about 15 minutes. Usually, treated veins disappear after one treatment, but sometimes may require two or even three treatments to fade completely.

This treatment is also offered for skin tags.
